Nurse, Who Took Care of Andrew, to Give Keynote Address at 2015 Tournament
Dr. Heather Ambrose began her nursing career at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC over 15 years ago as a graduate nurse on the Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Within two years, she advanced to a clinical leader, then the unit’s nurse educator. Dr. Ambrose currently holds the Director, Organizational Development, Nursing Education and Nursing Research within Children’s Hospital. She is also the Director over Family and Child Life Services and the Volunteer Services Department.
Dr. Ambrose graduated with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from Thiel College in 2000. Dedicated to life-long learning, Dr. Ambrose completed her Masters degree in Nursing Administration in 2010 and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2011 from Chatham University. Presently, Dr. Ambrose is the Primary Investigator on three IRB nursing studies and a study team participant in two additional IRB studies. Dr. Ambrose has presented both locally and nationally poster and podium presentations on topics related to Oncology/BMT, Nursing Development, Nursing Satisfaction, Nursing Leadership, and Professional Certification. As a member of the APHON, Greater Pittsburgh Three Rivers Chapter of APHON, Society of Pediatric Nurses, SPNK, SWPONL, PONL, and PSNA, Dr. Ambrose values professional organization involvement. |
